Nimtech are reworking paint for Crown Paints ‘Kick Out the Can’ campaign
Crown Paints’ award-winning community scheme, which gives householders the chance to clear their sheds, garages and cupboards of unwanted paint for recycling.
The ‘Kick Out The Can’ initiative allows people across England, Scotland and Wales to take their surplus paint to the Crown Paints national network of Decorating Centres.
The paint collected in-store will then be re-processed by Nimtech and then donated to community projects for reuse. Nimtech will also recycle the leftover plastic and metal paint containers.
This is the third year Crown Paints has operated the scheme, through its network of 115 Crown Decorating Centres in mainland UK. The initiative has secured a number of national accolades including the International CSR Award and Green Apple.
Mark Lloyd, Sustainability Manager for Crown Paints, said: “Over the years ‘Kick Out The Can’ has been a huge success, with thousands of cans returned and the re-processed paint then distributed to some excellent projects such as community gardens, youth centres and social housing apprenticeship schemes.
“Householders showed us that they valued the opportunity to clear out surplus paint while also making a positive contribution to communities across the country simply through the numbers who took part in the scheme.”
