Sustourex - Lancaster, Preston, West Lancs and WyreAbout the Sustourex project

The aim of Sustourex is to raise the competitiveness and sustainability of existing local tourism businesses by identifying viable cost-saving opportunities and enabling the implementation of best environmental practice, techniques and technologies. It also helps them to promote their achievements in order to win new business within the fast growing market of environmentally conscious tourist visitors.

A further aim of the project is to create local networks of participating local tourism businesses through which the awareness of environmental issues will be raised and support provided to enable members to improve their environmental performance.

Benefits include:

  • saving money through energy efficiency and waste reduction
  • winning business through effective marketing to the green tourism sector
  • opportunities for networking and finding more cost effective suppliers
  • improved customer loyalty and recognition through the Green Tourism Awards
